Jedward on why they were voted off

‘X Factor’ twins John and Edward reckon people “forgot” to vote for them, leading to their exit from the show.

The twins - who were voted off the ITV reality show last Sunday (22.11.09) after facing Olly Murs in the sing off – reckon press coverage they gained on the show led people to presume they would be safe from getting voted off. Edward said: “I feel like when people are talking about you and there’s loads of hype, people forget to vote, they think, ‘oh they’ll be safe because there’s so much hype’.”

The 18-year-old pair also said the other contestants started to get a little jealous of the frequency that they were featured in newspapers and magazines.

John added: “When we were in the house, we went out and bought papers and everyone would be like, ‘I can’t wait to see myself’, and then it would just be us on the cover and the inside.”

The pair also said, however, they don’t pay attention to negative things written about them. John added: “We never worried about what was written, because we knew when we came into the competition that not everybody would like us.” Edward added: “I think people just wanted something to talk about, you know, like those internet nerds sitting at home on their own.”

Meanwhile, although the pair are setting their sights on the pop charts and planning a debut single, an independent poll by bingo website 888ladies.com shows the public’s interest in the couple is waning. Of the 5,000 fans polled, 64 per cent thought the pair would never have a number one hit single in the UK, while 79 per cent said they thought they’d never make it as TV presenters.

Robbie pops the question to Ayda on live radio

Robbie Williams proposed to his girlfriend Ayda Field live on Australian radio.

The ‘Bodies’ singer was on the Kyle and Jackie O breakfast show on Sydney's 2DayFM to promote his new album ‘Reality Killed the Video Star’ and decided it was time to pop the question. Ayda, 30, was in the studio with him when Jackie asked Robbie if there was any news he wanted to share. The British singer turned to Ayda and said: "Is there anyone you want to get married to? Will you marry me?"

Ayda – who has been dating the 'Angels' singer for the past two years - said ‘yes’, although Robbie hadn't prepared for the proposal and had to slip Jackie's ring onto her finger.

A spokesperson for Robbie is yet to confirm whether the engagement is genuine. During the interview, Robbie also revealed he misses being in Take That. He said: “I’ve always wanted to be in a band ever since I left Take That and looking at the love they’ve all got for each other, I fancy a bit of that myself."

Katie begs Peter to take her back

Katie Price has reportedly begged Peter Andre to take her back.

The glamour model made an emotional phone call to her ex-husband and apologised for being a “b***h” to him and pleaded with him to rekindle their romance.

A friend of Peter’s told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “She said she was sorry for being such a b***h to him. She asked him straight out if there was any chance they could get back together and pleaded for a reunion.”

Since the couple – who raise Harvey, seven, Junior, four, and two-year-old Princess Tiaamii together – split, Katie had been dating cross-dressing cage fighter Alex Reid.

But the 31-year-old beauty dumped him on live television on Sunday (22.11.09)

During the heartfelt conversation, Katie – who dumped boyfriend Alex Reid on TV after quitting UK reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’, the programme on which she met Peter in 2004 - told Peter he was always on her mind.

The friend added: “She was telling him she just couldn’t stop thinking of him and their life together. “Katie told him she even dreamed of him at night but would wake up to realise he wasn't there, and feel sad. She was being the Katie Pete fell in love with in the first place."

However, it seems Peter, 36, is not interested in reuniting with Katie, 31.

The pal added: "He just assumed she wanted to speak to the kids, which she eventually did. "But then she came out with all this stuff about how she missed him and knew she had been an idiot. "The idea of a reunion is not something Pete would even consider. They are divorced and that's it."

Meanwhile, it has been claimed Katie launched into a foul-mouthed tirade against Alex - who had flown to Sydney, Australia, where ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’ is filmed, to surprise the model - after she broke up with him.

According to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, she told him: “It’s f***ing over Alex. Once I make up my mind I stick to it. There is no way back. What the f**k are you doing here anyway? You’ve had a wasted trip. Just f***ing leave me alone. You totally ignored my feelings and I cannot forgive you for that.”

Kate in hot water for comments on Mariah Carey

Kate Garraway has been blasted by ‘GMTV’ bosses over comments she made about Mariah Carey.

The presenter – who claimed earlier this week the singer had astounded the show with her “diva” antics – has been warned never to make similar claims in her New! magazine column as it may put off other big name stars from appearing. A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “What Kate said caused big problems backstage. “The huge entourage was actually a choir and

musicians used by Mariah. When stars come to be interviewed on ‘GMTV’ they don’t expect this. Even worse, what Kate wrote wasn’t true. “Kate has been carpeted by bosses and told it cannot happen again. It looks bad for ‘GMTV’ to be linked to these sort of comments about a guest.”

It has also emerged that Kate wasn’t even in the programme’s studios when Mariah recorded her appearance. The 42-year-old presenter is said to be “mortified” by the incident and has vowed not to make the same mistake again. A friend said: “She was misinformed and is mortified by what has happened. She has apologised to Mariah and her bosses and will make amends in her column next week.”

Leo and Bar back together?

Leonardo DiCaprio is rumoured to have rekindled his relationship with Bar Rafaeli.

The Hollywood heartthrob reportedly took the Israeli-born model to Baker’s Bay, an exclusive holiday resort in the Bahamas, last weekend where they stayed in their own private villa. A source told the New York Post newspaper: “They stayed in their own villa. They were shacked up together all weekend."

Leonardo and Bar split in June after having an on/off relationship for months. It was believed Bar – who first started dating Leonardo in 2006 – wanted the romance to be more serious, prompting the ‘Titanic’ actor to call time on their relationship.

Since their split, Leonardo has been linked to Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts, Cameron Diaz and Russian Sports Illustrated model Anne Vyalitsyna, while Bar has been seen with Israeli gambling tycoon Teddy Sagi and Brazilian playboy Ricardo Mansur. The actor spent most of the summer partying in London at several exclusive nightspots, including Chinawhite, Whisky Mist and Maddox.

Macca to play X Factor final

Sir Paul McCartney is being lined up to perform on ‘The X Factor’ final.

The ex-Beatles bassist and songwriter said he is trying to fit in an appearance on the final of the ITV singing show during his current touring commitments, and started watching the show after his daughter, Beatrice, six, got him into it. He said: “I don’t watch it enough to have a favourite. But Leona Lewis is a really good singer and that worked.

“John and Edward – good luck to them. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they’d gone all the way to the final – it’s good entertainment. “We’re trying to fit me in the show between my December tour dates.” Paul is reportedly being lined up to appear on the show’s final, which will take place on December 13.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga will perform on next Sunday’s penultimate show in the series (06.12.09). ‘Bad Romance’ singer Gaga is appearing despite the fact she has previously blasted reality TV shows, saying they give people a "false understanding" of success.

She said: “If you win a TV show and you have a hit record, you sort of have a false understanding of what it means to earn success. "The shows are set up for a winner, for someone to win. Whereas with someone like me, who writes my own songs, you have to set yourself up to win."

This Sunday’s (29.11.09) show will feature performances from Rihanna and Alicia Keys.
