CELEBRITY WIRE 17.05.12
Sharon Stone has received death threats in the past.
The 54-year-old actress - who has been a spokeswoman for the American Foundation for AIDS Research since 1995 - was astonished by the messages she received in response to her charity work, and admitted she had to be more "careful" in her life, though she refused to be deterred in her quest to help others.
She said: "When I started doing charity work, people thought I was only doing it for press - they called me the new Zsa Zsa Gabor.
The adversity was awful. My life was threatened - someone wanted to kill me."It was serious. I know what it's like to be bullied, but charity work is meaningful to me, so I didn't give up."It was a hard time in my life. I had to be careful.
People wanted to hurt me."Despite the threats, Sharon is grateful for the awareness she has been able to generate for her favourite causes thanks to her celebrity status. She told Life & Style magazine: "I see the money I've raised be put to good use."I've been given a gift, and it's created so much good.
It's a great feeling and I'm happy to share [that gift]."
Matthew McConaughey says stripping is like "a drug".
The 42-year-old actor was told by director Steven Soderbergh that he didn't have to bare all in new movie 'Magic Mike' - in which he plays former stripper Dallas - but knew he would regret it if he didn't flash his flesh, and was surprised by how much he enjoyed the experience.
He admitted: "It wasn't in the script, but Soderbergh said in the beginning that if it felt right, I could strip at the end of the movie. I said, 'I gotta dance, man.' I would regret it for the rest of my life if I was in a male stripper movie and didn't get up there and strip myself."
At first it was scary as hell, but then it became like a drug, and I couldn't wait to do it again. Look, I love to dance, but I've never been a stripper. "Channing [Tatum]'s one of the best hip-hop street dancers I've ever seen, and I didn't want to challenge his style, so I worked on my own strengths.
I also knew that my dance had to be the dirtiest. It had to be wonderfully filthy."Matthew - who stars in the film alongside Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer - is known for his toned physique and refused to use a body double in any of his scenes.
Asked if he had considered a body double, he told The Advocate: "No way. That's all me up there. I don't need a stunt ####."And the actor - who has children Levi, three, and two-year-old Vida with fiancee Camila Alves - admitted all of the cast were in good shape because their "vanity" spurred them on to be as "ripped" as possible.
He added: " Everybody was pretty damn ripped already, but boy, if you really want to get men in great shape, just tell them they're going to play male strippers in a movie and have their s**t onscreen for the rest of time. Vanity, baby."
Justin Bieber won't get drunk because he likes being in control.
The 18-year-old singer admits he has experimented with alcohol but would never drink to excess. He said: "For me, it's like I like to be in control of myself.
I mean, I've had a beer, like, before... But I never get out of control."Justin's manager, Scooter Braun, believes the 'Boyfriend' hitmaker's caution stems from his desire not to damage his career.
Told about the star's remarks, he told America's GQ magazine: He knows that I hold him to a high standard... He doesn't want to blow it."Justin - who is dating Selena Gomez - also admitted he struggles to trust people after having bad experiences in the past.
He said: "I mean, I keep my guard up a lot, because you know, you can't trust anyone in this business."That's what's sad. You can't trust anybody.
I learned the hard way."The 'Never Say Never' hitmaker also praised his friend Kim Kardashian for her strong work ethic. After a member of his entourage slammed an outfit she was wearing in a picture, he said: "You guys are so mean, bro... People say she doesn't do anything; she actually does do stuff... She works hard."
Angelina Jolie has praised BIlly Bob Thornton's "big, beautiful heart".
The 'Salt' actress - who raises six children with fiance Brad Pitt - also praised her second husband's sense of humour when penning the foreword to his new autobiography 'The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts'.
She wrote: "He has an unmatchable wit and can make you laugh until your face hurts and he has a big beautiful heart."Angelina - who split from Billy Bob in March 2002 after almost two years of marriage - also described the actor as a "mad mathematician" and admitted one of things she loves most about him is his eccentricity.
She added: "To be with him is like being with a mad mathematician. He is constantly counting and repeating. "Some people walk through life able to quiet the voices in their heads.
He can't. And I, and everyone else who knows him well, we love him for it. I know one thing: The world would certainly be a hell of a lot more dull if that man weren't in it."
Billy Bob recently admitted he and Angelina - who has also previously been married to Jonny Lee Miller - split because he felt he wasn't "good enough" for her.
He said: "We had a great marriage and I chickened out because I didn't feel good enough. That's all that happened. It was no big deal, we never hated each other."
